St. Joseph's Indian High School

"The true success of an institution is reflected in the impact its alumni create in society. At St. Joseph’s Indian High School, we take immense pride in our former students who continue to uphold the values instilled in them and extend their support to future generations. The Learn for Life Foundation, through the vision and dedication of Mr. Thekkethala, has been instrumental in fostering this spirit of giving. His commitment to children's education in rural areas, resonates deeply with our Jesuit mission of uplifting the less-privileged."

Fr. Cyril Menezes, Principal, SJ Indian HS.

About SJIHS

St Joseph’s Indian Institutions are dedicated to form men and women of conscience, competence, compassion and commitment, to build a just and humane society. The school's mission emphasizes forming men and women for others, encouraging students to use their gifts in the service of others, particularly the less-privileged and marginalized. This philosophy fosters a culture of giving and social responsibility within the school community.

St. Joseph's Indian High School was started at St. Joseph's College by the French Fathers of the Missions Etrangeres de Paris (MEP) before being moved to a three-storey building at the junction of Residency Road and Museum Road. It finally moved to its own buildings at its current location in what was then known as New Fields. Historically, the school admitted only male students. However, in 2009, the institution expanded its admissions policy to include female students at the pre-university level, reflecting a commitment to gender inclusivity. The school operates under the administration of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and offers education from kindergarten through pre-university levels.

The core values of SJIHS have always included providing preferential options for the less-privileged- being known over the years for the concern it has shown towards its students from the less-privileged and weaker sections of society. Over the past 120 years, more than 50,000 students have been part of the institution, with hundreds of deserving students receiving scholarships.

Financial assistance, fee concessions, and other monetary benefits are provided to those in need. Great encouragement is also given to the field of sports through the association with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to offer opportunities and training to every talented child without economic discrimination.

Through our collaboration with St. Joseph's Indian High School, the Learn for Life Foundation actively supports initiatives for underprivileged students that enhance learning opportunities, promote creativity, and foster leadership among students. Together in partnership, we are committed to the less-privileged and striving to form men and women for others.

SJII Alumni Association: Giving Back to Our Alma Mater

To continue this legacy of giving back, we seek your support and contributions toward the following initiatives. Every contribution—big or small—makes a meaningful impact on our students and the institution.

1. Scholarships and Financial Aid

In 2021, the Alumni Association launched the "Igniting Minds" initiative to raise funds for deserving and academically excelling students. Since then, we have successfully raised and distributed scholarships every academic year, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder a student's education.

2. Infrastructure Development

Our alumni have played a key role in enhancing campus facilities. Notably, Mr. Joshua Simon (Batch of 1995) voluntarily contributed to establishing a gym on campus, promoting physical wellness among students and staff. We invite alumni to collaborate in funding and improving libraries, laboratories, and a skill development centre, creating an enriched learning environment for future generations.
