St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School (SJBHS) Batch of 1977 (“the 77ers”) celebrated the second anniversary of their partnership of developing a holistic education program at St. Joseph School, Pandithahalli (SJS-PH). The initiative began with the creation of a library to strengthen communication skills through reading, comprehension and group discussion.  To build student confidence, the 77ers introduced sports and individual competitions, including a martial arts program and an annual sports day modeled on the long-standing traditions of SJBHS. Academic content, knowledge and learning was strengthened through the establishment of the Peter Pinto Science Lab and the Loyola Technology Center, providing hands-on STEM learning and access to modern technology. Rooted in Jesuit values of service, faith, and toil, the partnership seeks to inspire future alumni groups to pay forward their education and uplift students in disadvantaged communities.

St. Joseph School Pandithahalli (SJ-PH) is located in Malavalli taluk, in rural Mandya district, Karnataka. The school has grown from 150 students in 2020 to 750 majority Scheduled Caste & Tribe (SC/ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC) students, as the school expands student enrollment across remote rural areas in the state. 

SHS-PH’s mission is to uplift under-privileged children through secular English education, forming students of conscience, competence, compassion, and commitment.  Students start their day with a non-denominational prayer, celebrate Diwali, Ramzan and Christmas at school, and proudly wear the same house colors as the students at St. Joseph’s Boys High School, Bangalore
