The overall quality of life index ranged from very poor to average, with an overall average score of 39.38. The socio-economic condition of the natives is far from satisfactory. Limited access to education, inadequate sanitary and housing facilities were factors leading people of Chingjoroi to remain stagnant in their growth.

 

Meitei-Kuki Conflict: The dominant Meitei ethnic group and the minority Kuki community have violently clashed. The conflict has resulted in more than 100 deaths and the displacement of tens of thousands of people. Chingjoroi village has been caught in the crossfire and has witnessed some of the region’s worst ethnic violence in living memory Security forces are on high alert, guarding areas affected by violence. Houses lie empty, their inhabitants having fled.
