The Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society, in partnership with Learn For Life Foundation, and the SJBHS Batch of 1977, is launching a Green Energy Program beginning with a pilot solar energy project at St Joseph’s School, Pandithahalli.
This initiative is designed to do more than reduce electricity costs. It aims to create a sustainable and scalable model that combines renewable energy, climate education, student engagement, and environmental responsibility. By adopting solar energy, the school hopes to reduce dependence on fossil fuels while creating long-term financial savings and promoting cleaner energy solutions.
The project also focuses strongly on education and student participation. Through climate clubs, energy monitoring activities, and sustainability programs, students will gain practical exposure to renewable energy and environmental stewardship. The initiative will encourage young people to become active contributors toward a greener future.
As a pilot project, the Pandithahalli solar initiative is intended to serve as a model that can be replicated across Jesuit schools and colleges throughout Karnataka. With support from educators, students, donors, and sustainability partners, the project represents an important step toward building greener campuses and stronger communities through clean energy.
